Lets plant some trees...

Dear friends and family,

For the past ten years the staff and base leadership have been renting the location we are now on. Since the arrival of our new base leadership we have been searching God’s will for this base. More importantly, we were asking God whether we were to continue serving in our current location. Through one of our times of Intercession God gave us Is. 54:2 (“Enlarge the place of your tent, stretch your tent curtains wide, do not hold back”). Through not only this verse but many others as well, we believe that we are still being called to God’s work in this area. As a result we have been vigorously pursuing purchase of this land.

What would purchasing this property do for our ministry here? First of all, purchasing this property would enable us to build additional lodging. Right now we can comfortably lodge about thirty people (including staff) on base premises. By purchasing this property we will be able to build enough room for all the future staff, volunteers, and students who God will be sending to serve in Costa Rica.

Essentially, we pray that the purchase of this property can further the kingdom of God. As of now, most of our Discipleship Training Schools have consisted of only seven to ten students. By increasing our amount of lodging we would be able to have schools consisting of possibly twenty to thirty students. As a result we would be able to training more young people (and old) for evangelizing the world.

“By purchasing this property we can extend the Kingdom of God!”

In order for us to purchase this property we will need to raise $380,000 American dollars. We believe that God can easily meet and go beyond in providing the necessary finances for the purchase of this property.

One way that has been presented to us for raising money has been through the tree project. One of our base leaders, while studying in an Christian environmental school, came up with the idea to build a nursery on base for rare Costa Rican trees. Because of our base’s focus on caring for God’s creation we began to do some research on the project. With the help of two volunteers (professionals in growing trees) we were able to discover that this nursery not only could save these trees, but could potentially raise all the necessary money for purchasing the base.

This came as a huge surprise to all of us.

For every seedling we grow into a sapling we could sell for $3.00 a piece. If we were to grow 50,000 trees we could potentially raise 40,000 dollars the first year. In the future years we could raise 49,300 dollars. We have the right conditions and amount of land on base to pursue this. The only thing holding us back is our need for your participation. As of know we are in need of 10,000 dollars to start this endeavor. This money could enable us to begin this year.
